The Magical Ingredient
Day 8: The Magic Ingredient
Food is something we don't think much about until we are hungry. Most of us are blessed to be able to open our refrigerator and pull out our favorite foods. But do we stop and feel gratitude for our food? Do we think about how much work is into making our food? All the farmers, growers, pickers, packers, transportation drivers, and distributors. It takes months of treating and nurturing the soil and watering the plants until harvesting. All to bring you convenience. Could you imagine having to grow your own food 24/7 and 365 days a year? I have a small garden that we started. It is a lot of work trying to get them to live let alone grow! :) What about all the ranchers, fishermen and dairy farmers? That is a lot of work to get you fresh, safe cuts of meat, seafood and dairy products. Not to mention your coffee and tea makers, juice makers and the purified water you drink. It all takes a lot of work to make it as convenient as it is for us. Yet, most of us don't stop to think about our food until we are wanting to complain about something.
In the book, the author, Rhonda Byrne, talks about the gift of water. Everything we have is because of water. Without water there would be no vegetables to grow, no meat to produce and we human beings would not be able to stay alive as well without the gift of water. Water is used for so many conveniences. Like supplying water to our bathrooms, water to our water heaters and cleaning up our home. We boil water to cook with and to drink our coffee and tea. Water helps to support our hospitals, doctors, manufacturing facilities and transportation.
The food and water we are blessed with is such a gift, huh? One way to honor it is to slow down and savor each bite. When you slowly eat and think about how grateful you are for your food, your thoughts and feelings for your food and water supply changes. You will notice when you are feeling grateful that the flavor of the food and water is enhanced. Your taste buds are more alive.
Day 8 Challenge:
Today you will take more time eating your food and savoring your water and beverages. As you consume them think about where they came from, what might of went into producing them and how grateful you are for them!!! You will give as much feeling of thankfulness as you can. FEELING your heart fill up with love and appreciation. The author, Rhonda Byrne, uses a visual of sprinkling magic dust over her food by waving her fingers over her food or drinks. She imagines that it is purifying the food and drinks. It is a fun way to bring a little humor and playfulness into this challenge! ;) If you forget to say thank you for your food and drinks, you will close your eyes and go back in your mind and visualize that moment and give thanks. Making sure to feel the feeling of your heart filling up with love and appreciation!
You will do your 10 "Count Your Blessings" and your "Magical Rock" Moment today, as well! If you have any questions, comments or suggestions you can email me @ ascreaminggoodlife@gmail.com!
